2012
This research paper is part of the funded project on emotional intelligence in the II internal meeting of University of Magdalena (Ref: II CSI-11-2010 -2012). It is a descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional design. Its main objective was to identify the relationship between Perceived Emotional Intelligence (EI), depression and academic performance in Psychology students of Santa Marta (Colombia). The study involved 76 students who applied the Beck depression inventory, the Trait Meta Mood Scale. Academic performance is registered through the academic GPA. The results indicated significant negative relationship between the emotional clarity, emotional repair and levels of depression, as well as non-existence of significant relationship between the skills of EI and the academic performance; however, the latter negatively correlate with the levels of depression.
