Sticky Traps for Monitoring Phytophagous Mirids (Hemiptera: Miridae) in an Apple Orchard in Southwestern Quebec

1982
Rectangular cardboard sticky traps placed at a height of 0.5 m on apple trees captured adults of Lygus lineolaris , Lygocoris communis , Lygidea mendax , and Heterocordylus malinus as they appeared in the orchard, but were set too low to catch adults of Campylomma verbasci present in the orchard. The mean numbers of L. communis captured on traps set at 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5 m above the ground were not significantly different. These traps are useful for detecting the presence of L. lineolaris early in the spring and for monitoring incoming adults of the other species in a sprayed orchard.
