Preparation and characterisation of metal acrylate grafted polypropylene

1995
A series of transition metal complexes have been melt grafted to polypropylene via a free radical initiated reaction. Significant levels of grafting were achieved. The grafted polypropylenes were coloured. They had glass transition temperatures (T g ) generally higher than the unmodified polypropylene together with lower molecular weights, which suggested ionomeric behaviour gave rise to these increased glass transition temperatures. The surface resistivities of the grafted polypropylenes were all lower than the unmodified polymer which favours improved antistatic properties.
