Splanchnic vein thrombosis in ambulatory pancreatic cancer patients receiving chemotherapy.

e20658 Background: Splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT) is a common complication in exocrine pancreatic cancer (EPC) receiving chemotherapy in ambulatory setting. However it´s true incidence and prognosis remains uncertain. So far, only few studies have addressed the outcome of patients with EPC and SVT. Methods: We performed a retrospective chart review to determine the incidence of SVT in patients attended in ten hospitals of the Cancer & Thrombosis Working Group of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM). 626 consecutive patients who were diagnosed and received chemotherapy for EPC from January 2008 through December 20011 were identified and included in the analysis.
