Abstract Chlorobenzotrifluorides ( 2 3 ), under typical Friedel - Crafts reaction conditions, react efficiently with aromatic compounds ( 1 ) to afford 1,1-dichlorodiphenylmethanes, ( 4 ) in excellent yield and purity.
