Use of active x-ray diagnostics to study the plasma in the Mishen device

An active x-ray diagnostic technique is described in which the plasma object being studied is illuminated with x radiation from an auxiliary source. The advantages and disadvantages of several illumination schemes which have been tried are analyzed. 5 refs., 3 figs.
