Change in cerebral blood flow in an acute hepatitis C patient with depressive state while receiving interferon

1996
Abstract Regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF) was measured with single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) using N -isopropyl- p -[ 123 I] iodoamphetamine ( 123 I-IMP) in a patient with acute hepatitis C who showed depressive state during interferon therapy. During his depressive state the rCBF was decreased markedly in the inferior frontal cortex. This case suggests that psychotic symptoms during IFN therapy may result from decreased rCBF.
