The evaluation of cytotoxicity, acute toxicity and antiviral activity of the agent pidotimod during herpetic infections in experimental animals

2011
4State Research Institute of Highly Pure Biopreparations, St. Petersburg An assessment of antiviral activity of immunotropic drug pidotimod in vivo was held. The drug showed a preventive effect that protected 86.7 % of observed animals from illness and lethal outcome. In group of animals that didn’t receive pidotimod mortality was 46.7 % animals. At the same time, the group that didn’t receive pidotimod showed a significant rise of proinflammatory cytokines in serum and in the second group (that received pidotimod) the rise of IL10 level was registered.
