THE ROLE OF NEOPTERIN IN THE FLUORESCENCE INVESTIGATIONS OF BIOTISSUE PATHOLOGY

2002
Diagnostic techniques based on optical spectroscopy were applied to biochemical on site tissue characterization in medical endoscopy procedures. The detailed spectral and statistical analysis of the biotissue fluorescence data was accomplished for the investigation of the correlation between the presence of neopterin as a fluorophore in tissue and morphological changes of it. The method is based on the decomposition of the autofluorescence spectrum into the spectra of natural biochemical components of cells. Some correlation between the fluorescence spectra structure changes and the pathological changes in endometrial tissue are observed from spectral and multivariate statistical analysis. Addition of neop terin gives better correlation results.
