The effect of home cognitive behavioral therapy to the emotion and cognitive function of elderly patients with depression

Objective To explore the effect of home cognitive behavioral therapy to the emotion and cognitive function of elderly patients with depression. Methods A total of 84 cases of elderly patients with depression in our hospital from June 2014 to June 2015 were selected as the research objects, and were divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table method, 42 cases of each group.The control group was given routine community follow-up after discharge, while the patients of the observation group were given home cognitive behavioral therapy after discharged.The score of Hamilton Depression(HAMD)and Mini Mental State Examination scale(MMSE)of the patients of the two groups after discharge 3 months and 6 months were compared and analyzed. Results The score of HAMD of the two groups after dischare 3 months and 6 months was lower than before treatment.The score of HAMD of the observation group after discharge 3 months and 6 months were lower than that of the control group(P<0.05). The score of MMSE of the two groups after discharge 3 months and 6 months were lower than before treatment. The score of MMSE of the observation group after discharge 3 months and 6 months were higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The score of overall health, physiological function and physiological role, social function, mental health and affection function of the observation group after interved for 6 months were significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05). Conclusions Home cognitive behavioral therapy can effectively alleviate the depression of senile depression patients, improve patients cognitive function and improve patients long-term life quality.
