The theme to develop in this article comes together in the philosophy of the imagination; is type of study can be located on an aesthetic level of language, by addressing the notion of poetic reverie as a technology of the self within the activity of self-knowledge that emerges in a catharsis, from this encounter with the poetry. With the aim of claiming the role of philosophy and poetry as a benchmark in the construction of educational social programs. Following a methodology that analyzes the results obtained in the sessions coordinated by the Casa de Hierro Foundation in the Atlantic prisons, carried out with people deprived of their liberty, who experiment with poetry on the pedagogical strategy that promotes integration, development of selfknowledge, the exploration of the being through the imagination, carrying out in a state of catharsis that allows them, in addition to resilience, a reconstruction of identity through an aesthetic gaze.
