Stress wave analysis of PZP with coating layer using finite element method

2015
AbstractWhen objects impact one other, the coating layer is generally regarded as having a minimal effect on the transmission and reflection of the shock waves. However, because the material properties and thickness of the coating layer may have an actual effect, this study conducted a finite element analysis of the transmission and reflection of the stress wave propagation from two bars with different material properties. In addition, coating layers with different material properties were inserted between the two bars, and the behaviour of the stress wave propagation was compared based on finite element analysis and theoretical results. Therefore, finite element analysis of actual piezoelectric ceramic was performed to determine the damage caused to the piezoelectric ceramic, which was then confirmed by the effect of the reflected wave. To decrease the effect of the reflected wave, further analyses were then conducted while changing the thickness and material of the coating layer. In addition, various pi...
