Formation of β-diketonate metallocomplexes in langmuir films

The properties of films prepared from 2,4-heneicosanedione and its complex with copper were studied by measuring compressibility isotherms and by recording UV and IR absorption spectra and atomic-force microscopy images. The properties of the films depend on the nature of the subphase on which the film is formed. The results obtained suggest that copper(II) ions are incorporated into the 2,4-heneicosanedione molecule with the formation of a chelate metallocomplex.
