NEWCASTLE EM AVES DE PRODUÇÃO: REVISÃO DE LITERATURA

2021
Newcastle disease (DNC) also called avian pseudopest or respiratory disorder is responsible for a high mortality rate among birds. It is part of the infectious diseases of the International Organization for Epizootics (OIE), and is compulsory to report. Considered one of the most important diseases in poultry, it leads to high economic losses in the poultry trade. It is highly contagious, with an acute viral character and affects most bird species, which can manifest clinical signs of respiratory or neurological infections or even be carriers and only spread the virus asymptomatically. As the clinical signs of the disease are not pathognomonic, laboratory diagnosis is essential and confirmatory, with isolation and viral identification being the definitive diagnostic methods for CND. As it is a disease that has no treatment, vaccination is the most effective measure of prevention and control. The objective of this work is to present the importance of newcastle disease in the care of poultry produced by Veterinary Medicine, through knowledge about the etiology, epidemiology, clinical signs, diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
