An Empirical Study on Adaptable Scripting

2017
87 university students participated in this study which compared three experimental conditions (unscripted CSCL, CSCL with a non-adaptable script, CSCL with an adaptable script). Results showed that the adaptable script applied in the current work triggered learners’ employ of internal collaboration script components that are functional for social processes on one hand; on the other hand, the adaptable script inhibited students’ application of dysfunctional internal script components for cognitive processes of collaborative knowledge construction, which in turn, enhances the quality of cognitive processes in comparison to unscripted CSCL.
