Raising the priority of chronic noncommunicable diseases in the Caribbean

This opinion piece reflects on the process of andlessons learned in achieving the political commitmentof heads of government manifested by a one-day summit on the prevention and control of chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the CaribbeanCommunity (CARICOM) integration movement. Im-plementation of the Summit Declaration and applica-bility to the United Nations High Level Meeting (UNHLM) on NCDs in September 2011 are discussed.
