Of the many nefarious plots that have been devised in science fiction, very few have the style and magnitude of thwarting your archnemesis from space. It is difficult to resist the grandeur of literally looking down on your foes and blasting them out of existence with a wellplaced particle beam. One could assume this is why both Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are building rockets: They plan to finally settle an old score in the manner of rivals in a Despicable Me sequel.
