Seri Indian Figurines

ABSTRACTThree unusual figurines of clay and bone were obtained from Seri Indians, whose homeland is Tiburon Island and the coast of Sonora opposite the island. Accounts obtained from Seri informants indicate that the figurines may represent manta rays, and as such were used as a protective device against the rays.
