Pruebas de rendimiento para obtener tablitas de melina (Gmelina arborea (L.) Roxb.)

Yield tests to obtain little boards from Melina (Gmelina arborea (L.) Roxb.). This study was conducted in the company MADER IN ECO S.A., which it is concerned about optimizing the sawing process of the species Gmelina arborea (L.) Roxb. (melina). The methodology included grading of logs (A = high quality and B = low quality) using the Brazilian Log Grading Rules. Two sawing patterns were applied. The first sawing pattern is currently used by the factory in Costa Rica and the second one is presently utilized for sawing pine in Brazil. In the sawing process, a platform of ripas (thin strips) and tablitas (little boards) were separated by plane of cutting either radial or tangential. The Lumber Recovery Factor (LRF) was obtained in two machine centers (multilamina and band saws).
