Spain’s Wind Power Development: Experience and Message to China

Whereas Spain has ensured stable operation of the power grid under the circumstances of rapid expansion of wind power in recent years by introducing the wind power premium system, optimizing the power structure, improving the system peak load regulation, applying wind forecast techniques, establishing the CECRE (Centre of Electric Control and Renewable Energy) and enhancing power grid planning and construction, this article gives a brief introduction to the Spanish wind power development, power source structure, and the characteristics of its grids, analyzes the measures taken to improve the wind power accommodation and ensure the stable and safe operation of the power grid, and puts forward relevant suggestions for coordinated development of the wind power and the grids of China.
