When the educational side of research is developed, investigation of the reality is favored, and the research is not restricted to the study of the stages of collection and accumulation of data. Research can therefore be conceived as an activity of enquiring into the reality; as an activity which enables the (re)elaboration of knowledge that will assist in an understanding of this reality and provide orientation for the actions of professionals. This article focuses on the experience of the Dentistry Program at the University of Vale do Itajai, of adopting research as an activity which is integrated with the teaching-learning process, linking it to the Course Conclusion Paper.
