Zur Rekonstruktion des Unterkiefers: Entwicklung von Techniken in mehreren Jahrzehnten

Between 1971 and 1993, 152 reconstructions of the mandible have been performed with free bone transplants of iliac crest and ribs in the Department of Maxillo-facial Surgery of the University of Cologne. The evaluation of the results of treatment in 110 reconstruction cases where different methods of fixation had been used, lead to the development of a titanium minireconstruction plate. The results of 60 mandible reconstructions using this technique will be discussed.
