Comparison of curative effects of traditional CAV scheme with Topotecan hydrochloride and Cisplatin for small cell lung cancer

Objective: To observe the curative effect of traditional CAV(Cyclophosphamide,Adriamycin,Vincristine) scheme or Topotecan hydrochloride and Cisplatin for 164 patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Methods: Eighty four patients were treated with Topotecan hydrochJoride and Cisplatin and seventy nine patients,with traditional CAV The transverse diameter and anteroposterior diameter of tumor were measured,and the the therapeutic effects of the two schemes for SCLC were compared.The differences between the two groups were analysed. Results: The total effective rate was 56.5％in the group with Topotecan hydrochloride and Cisplatin chemotherapy and 41.8%, in the group with traditional CAV. There was significant statistical difference between the two groups ( x2=18.4 16. 27, v=3,p3.001),without statistical difference of toxic effect and side-effect (x2=5.62 9.49, v=4, p0.05). Conclusion: Topotecan hydrochloride with Cisplatin is more effective than traditional CAV scheme for patients with SCLC.
