Investigation on how spectral overlap between donor–acceptor affects PRET

Knowledge on PRET mechanism would be a guide for developing PRET-based sensors. The study on PRET mechanism is in infancy. Herein, the effect of spectral overlap between donor and acceptor on PRET was investigated using the model donor–acceptor pairs, Au/Ag/Au nanosphere (Au/Ag/AuNS)-QD 800 and Au nanosphere (AuNS)-QD 800. The PRET comparison between the two pairs indicated that the particles experiencing PRET and PRET efficiency increased by spectral overlap.
