Effects of Light Quality on Physiological Characteristics of Tomato Seedlings

2018
The effects of natural light and artificial light on chlorophyll and related enzyme activities in tomato seedling leaves were studied by using LED lighting in a growth chamber. The results showed that: Under the condition of natural light source as main light source, supplementation of ultraviolet (UV), violet (P), yellow (Y) could significantly increase the content of chlorophyll a; supplementation of ultraviolet (UV), red (R), yellow (Y) can significantly increase the content of chlorophyll b; supplementation of ultraviolet light (UV), red (R) can significantly increase the content of carotenoids. Ultraviolet (UV) and violet (P) were beneficial to increase the activities of SOD, POD and CAT in tomato seedling leaves, while red (R) and yellow (Y) light reduced the activities of SOD, POD and CAT.
