Shrinkage and mould taper calculations in continuous casting of martensitic and austenitic stainless steel slab

Mould taper for the slab caster was optimized based on the investigation on the quality of the continuous casting slab of austenitic and martensitic stainless steel produced by the caster in the third refining shop in TaiYuan Steel Company.The shrinkage of the shell of the slab in the mould was calculated respectively and the influence of operating parameters such as casting speed and superheat on the mould taper was analyzed.The suggested optimized mould taper strategy was proved successful in the production practice.
