Identification of Feeder with Single-Phase Ground Fault

2019
Single-phase ground fault in overhead power lines is one of the most usual types of fault in power grids of 6-35 kV. The arc fault generate a spectrum of higher harmonics of voltage and current. This higher harmonics can be the indication of the fault mode. Illegible higher harmonics can be appearing after removing the main harmonic (50 Hz). There are resonance higher harmonics of voltage and current in spectrum and it is possible to correlate the distance between the place of fault and the end of overhead power line with the frequency of higher harmonics. Simulation modeling and fields experiments show the effectiveness of using higher harmonics for the identification of the place of fault and distance between the place of fault and the end of an overhead power line.
