Improved dacryocystorhinorstomy for chronic dacryocystitis in 120 cases

2008
Objective To explore the clinical effect of improved dacryocystorhinorstomy (DCR) for chronic dacryocystitis. Methods Between December 2004 and December 2006,120 cases(120 eyes) of chronic dacryocystitis were randomly divided into 2 groups,60 cases in each group.Group A was performed with improved DCR.Group B was performed with traditional DCR.All cases were followed up from 6 months to 2 years. The effects of 2 methods were valuated. Results The average operational times of group A and B were (44.43±3.71) minutes and (74.97±10.92) minutes, respectively, the difference was statistically significant (P=0.000).In group A,58 cases were cured,2 cases were improved, and no case was invalid. In group B,50 cases were cured,6 cases were improved, and 4 cases were invalid. The difference was statistically significant between group A and B(P=0.000).Conclusion The improved DCR is a simple method of operation, has better effects of operation, can effectively treat chronic dacryocystitis.
