Avulsion injury to the renal pedicle: successful autotransplantation after "bench surgery".

1978
: Avulsion injury to the renal pedicle from blunt trauma is a common injury in children. We report a patient who survived this injury with successful reimplantation of the kidney after bench surgery to trim the vessels and the ureter. The function of this kidney is somewhat impaired and shows posttraumatic scarring 19 months post-surgery. This appears to be the first report of such a patient in the literature.
