Development and Application of Flocculation Reactor with Lozenge Fin Plates

2010
A flocculation reactor with lozenge fin plates, which can simultaneously control the intensification of flow micro-vortex and the equal distribution of flow macro-turbulence,was constructed according to the backward-facing step flow theory. The geometric parameters of the flocculation reactor were optimized by numerical investigation and a pilot experiment. The optimized reactor was applied in a steelworks wastewater reuse project. The operation results show that when the reactor capacity is 750 m3/h,the effluent turbidity is about 1 NTU,and the removal rate of COD is 48.5%,which decreases the load of the follow-up treatment. It is proved that the reactor has higher flocculation efficiency and good effluent quality, and it can be used in steelworks wastewater reuse projects.
