Measurement of the localized iron loss in electromagnetic steel sheet by using the needle probe method

Grain oriented silicon steel used for transformer cores has large crystal grains in comparison with nonoriented silicon steel used in rotational machines. Therefore, we need to consider the magnetic properties of each crystal grain and the influence of grain boundaries to reduce the iron loss of the grain oriented silicon steel cores. In this article, we make them clear and report the influence of the grain boundary to the local iron loss.
