Blend of polypropylene and ethylene copolymer and film made therefrom

PURPOSE: To provide a composition for the preparation of a packaging film and a thin film particularly suitable as a substitute for a polyvinyl chloride film for use in packaging. CONSTITUTION: A desired composition is composed of a blend of a propylene homopolymer or a propylene copolymer and an ethylene copolymer. An ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA), especially a very low density polyethylene (VLDPE) and an ethylene α-olefin copolymer are preferred ethylene copolymers. VLDPE having a high mol.wt. (low melt index) and a broad molecular weight distribution (high flow rate ratio) is preferred. A multilayer film comprises a first layer 10 of a polypropylene homopolymer or copolymer or blend and at least one outer sealable layer 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)1992,JPO
