Thickening composition and cosmetics

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thickening composition capable of exhibiting a very high thickening effect even when the blending quantity of a thickener is decreased; to provide a thickening composition capable of maintaining thickening effect even in a wide pH range or even in an aqueous composition containing a salt-type compound; and to provide a thickening composition which has a novel feeling and is excellent in use feeling at the time of coating and especially preferably usable for a cosmetic. SOLUTION: Both of the thickening composition and the cosmetic contain (A) 0.01-10 mass% thickening agent consisting of a microgel which is obtained by dissolving a water-soluble ethylenic unsaturated monomer in a dispersion phase and radical-polymerizing in the dispersion phase, (B) 0.1-10 mass% thickening agent consisting of an associative polymer, and (C) 0.1-99.89 mass% water.
