Effect of total body irradiation on capillary permeability.

A study was made of the disappearance of labeled plasma proteins from the circulation as well as their transport through the lymphatics after massive wholebody x irradiation of dogs. No increase in the transport of colloidal molecules through the capillary walls could be detected in the irradiated animals. The return of the extravasated Protein molecules by way of the lymphatic channels was, however, greatly reduced.
