Efficiency evaluation of coordinated charging methods used for charging electric vehicles

2016
Integration of electric vehicles (EVs) into existing power system can be carried out smoothly and efficiently using coordinated/smart charging. Time based coordination and power based coordination are the two strategies available for coordinated charging methods. Both the charging strategies operate the EV chargers at different operating power and hence the overall all charging efficiency differ from one another. In this paper, the efficiency evaluation for different coordinated charging methods is carried out for both the charging strategies. The overall energy efficiency of two types of coordinated charging methods is evaluated for a typical EV system charged in high-rise residential buildings.
