Several raw material of wide use within the traditional system in the Colombian Biogeographic Choco, were characterized through bromatologic analysis, such as bread fruit Artocarpus comunis Forst (Moraceae), Cassava Manihot esculenta Crantz (Euphorbiaceae), cocoyam Xanthosoma saggittifolium Schott (Araceae), paco Gustavia superba (Kunth) O. Berg (Lecythidaceae) and corn Zea mays L. (Gramineaceae), and the by-products of plantain harvest Musa paradisiaca L. (Musaceae), chontaduro Bactris gasipaes Kunth. (Palmaceae) and sugar cane Saccharum officinarum L. (Graminaceae). The made analysis were: protein, phosphorus, calcium, ashes, crude fiber (CF), detergent neutral fiber (DNF), detergent acid fiber (DAF), lignin, (LAD). The results obtained for percentage protein were: 7,2; 6; 5,38; 0,6; 0,48; 4,76; 2,31 and 0%, for maize, Paco, bread fruit, cocoyam, cassava, plantain peel-offs, chontaduro peel-offs, and sugar cane byproducts respectively.
