Naloxone reversal of acupuncture analgesia in the monkey

Abstract The analgesic effect resulting from stimulation of acupuncture loci in the monkey was reversed completely or partially by naloxone. The possible role of endogenous mechanisms in mediating the analgesic effect induced by acupuncture and the importance of ascending spinal pathways are discussed.
