A Secure Way to Safer Products

In this paper the so-called Product Safety Model is presented. This model has been developed at the Delft University of Technology as an aid to designers in designing safe products. The decrease in hazard connected with the product, upon application of the model, is a measure of its effectiveness. The model will have its place in the complex of the design process and compromises will have to be made, e.g. safety versus functioning and remaining risk versus the effort to create a safer product.
