Design and analysis of eight petal Flower shaped fractal antenna for THz applications

Abstract The paper presents the design and analysis of wideband eight petal flower shaped fractal antenna with partial ground plane for terahertz applications. The designed antenna is fed by microstrip line feed and provides an impedance bandwidth of 0.58THz-6.60 THz. By placing eight petals at 450 in a circular manner the flower shaped fractal antenna is designed. The initial antenna is designed with four petals placed at 900 with respect to each other. To select obtain the optimum performance the parametric analysis of ground plane is carried out and partial ground of length Lg= 170 µm is selected with rectangular slot in upper part. A maximum gain of 12.5 dBi has been acquired by an antenna at 5.96 THz.
