Conversion of the energy of ionizing radiation ina cell with semiconductor electrode. Charge separation in the semiconductor and quantum Yield

1985
In a cell with single-crystal SrTiO/sub 3/ electrode, the quantum yield of the radioelectrochemical current is 1 to 10 during irradiation with 4-MeV pulses of accelerated electrons. The energy conversion efficiency of radiation into chemical energy is 10/sup -4/% for water decomposition. At porous ceramic TiO/sub 2/ electrodes, the efficiency of radioelectrochemical water decomposition is two orders of magnitude higher than at smooth electrodes.
