LOS HIJOS DEL AGUA, DE SUSANA HENAO: EL RETORNO AL ORIGEN

2005
Susana Henao's novel, recreating the last years of the Muisca Empire before the arrival of the Spanish Conquistadores, recovers and imagines the origins of the nation. It is a bildungsroman whose historical context is the confrontation between the different clans for economic, political and religious control. Henao presents a convincing portrayal of the myths and ceremonies of the Muisca and Boreka cultures, showing the vitality of the Native American cosmogonies that have endured to the present time.
