Electrodynamic strength in short-circuiting of RUOM controllable arc-quenching reactors

The electrodynamic strength of RUOM controllable arc-quenching reactors (190-1520 kV.A, 6-35 kV) is calculated. It is shown that theoretical estimation of the electrodynamic strength of such reactors may be based on methods and programs used for power transformers. According to the calculations, the electrodynamic strength of all the reactors considered is sufficient. Methods of optimizing the reactor structure and ensuring adequate dynamic strength are discussed.
