148 RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN WOMEN'S ATTITUDE TOWARDS MENOPAUSE AND QUALITY OF LIFE

2012
Main outcome measure: We considered sexual activity and satisfaction with score of very good (23-30), good (15-22), poor (7-14) and no sexual intercourse (≤6). Results: Sexual activity was very good in 33 (26%) of patients before and in 24 (19%) after surgery (P<0.05), good in 29 (23%) and 33 (26%; P=NS), and, poor in 51 (40%) and 39 (31%; P<0.01), respectively. Significantly more treated women had no sexual intercourses after surgery (24%) compared with women who had no surgery (11%; P<0.001). The main reasons for the latter were fear and dyspareunia. Conclusions: Research findings described older women as being involved in varied, though limited, sexual activities. Older women are interested in continuing their sexual activities as a component of life satisfaction. Furthermore, surgery actually reduces, worsens and alters the regular sexual activity.
