Oh what a beautiful morning,” Sylvia Moreno was singing to herself as she drove to school and thought how lucky for her that the weather was holding so that she could finish her orientering unit. This is the first year Sylvia has tried this unit, and teachers and students at Maple have cooperated wholeheartedly. The curriculum director had encouraged the teachers to show initiative in integrating other subject materials into the curriculum. This was Sylvia’s first effort to combine geography, math, and physical education. It took a lot of extra time and effort to plan with the other teachers. But, so far, it has been worth it.
