EDITOR, - The number of German junior doctors holding preregistration with the General Medical Council is steadily increasing. Between 1988, when the training of junior doctors in Germany was reformed, and 1992 the number of German junior house officers working in Britain increased from two to 485 (General Medical Council, personal communication).
