Strategies for Improving College Counselors Ideological and Political Education Capability by Using New Media Against the Background of Internet

Nowadays, the rapid development of new media, leads a great revolution in college students that affects their way of thinking, learning and living. In 2017, Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China proposed that universities should play a more active role in promoting internet education. In Chinese universities, counselors have close relationships with students. They meet with students almost every day and are responsible for them, which plays an important role in the growth of students. Meanwhile college students like to understand and comment the news that happens every day through the Internet. They would like to express their feelings and record their lives through social media also. For counselors, the traditional method of ideological and political education for college students must be altered immediately. Under the background of Internet+, college counselors shall make better use of the new media as the most important tool to operate the management of student affairs, establish a great fascinating and influential brand of the new media, and that can make tremendous contributions to the ideological and political education which would enter a new era.
