Climatic extrems by heat

2021
The present bibliographic review refers to the topic of the bioclimatic extremes associated with heat and its influence on health. It is part of the research project: "Dangerous meteor-tropic effects associated with extreme thermal sensations in Cuba". The methodology used is part of the bibliographic and documentary analysis based on the available bibliography referring to the subject under study. It was possible to verify the diversity of meanings, concepts, criteria, indices and indicators present at the national level, and even more so on a global scale, with respect to the bioclimatic extremes related to temperatures, specifically due to heat and its influence on health. The work carried out serves as a basis for the study of thermal extremes by heat in Cuba and for this purpose it is proposed to analyze the Suffocating Heat Index and the indicator of Intense Heat Condition in addition to the heat wave criteria that consider thresholds based on percentiles so that a criterion can be defined for the country based on the behavior of thermal sensations. In this way, extreme heat conditions potentially capable of producing dangerous meteorological-tropic effects on the vulnerable population in Cuba will be available as a first approximation.
