Synthesis of alkyl tertiary alkyl ethers using β-zeolite catalysts

PURPOSE: To obtain alkyl tertiary alkyl ether from a tertiary alcohol and primary alcohol at a high conversion rate and selection rate by a continuous process. CONSTITUTION: This process for producing the alkyl tertiary alkyl ether from the tertiary alcohol and primary alcohol in the presence of a catalyst is characterized in that a crystalline aluminosilicate faujasite Y-type zeolite which has been treated with hydrogen fluoride is used as the catalyst.
