Characteristic Mode Inspired Circular Polarization Antenna Using Metamaterial

This article designs a circular polarization antenna using metasurface by characteristic mode analysis. By solving the metasurface structure's characteristic modes and exciting two orthogonal characteristic modes, circularly polarized antenna can be achieved. The dimension of the metamaterial antenna is $35\ \text{mm} \times\ 35\ \text{mm} \times\ 4\ \text{mm}$ . The simulation S 11 bandwidth of 10 dB return loss is 5.7-6.7 GHz. And axial ratio bandwidth of 3 dB is 5.8-6.7 GHz, with left-hand circular polarization.
