First Report of Human Infection by Agromyces mediolanus, a Gram-Positive Organism Found in Soil

ABSTRACT We report the first human infection by a member of the Agromyces genus, a group of Gram-positive bacteria found in soil. A patient with a long-term venous catheter developed bacteremia due to a non-vancomycin-susceptible isolate of Agromycesmediolanus. Rapid identification was possible by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization–time of flight mass spectrometry.
